MASVINGO – The Youth Cultural and Arts Festival (YOCAF) has appointed Tariro Mushonga as the festival manager.
The appointment of the manager for the Masvingo-based arts organization is with immediate effect. Yocaf is the biggest youth arts festival in the country.
Mushonga is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree with Solusi Unversity and has worked with some of the biggest festivals around the world in many different capacities. He assumes a senior role within Yocaf and one of his main roles is to continue to develop and improve the activities and visibility of the Festival.
Yocaf founder and artistic director, Leeroy Gono confirmed the appointment in an interview with The Mirror.
"Mushonga is the new Festival manager and I am pleased to make that announcement. He has worked with us since 2012 as the festival's technical director and the most important thing is that he has a passion to see the development of arts in Zimbabwe," said Gono.
Mushonga said he took the appointment as a challenge.
"I am humbled by this appointment considering the size of the Festival. This is a festival that brings schools throughout the country together in the form of arts competitions. My mission is to turn this festival into a regional one," said Mushonga.
Yocaf board chair, Dr Frederick Kasese welcomed the appointment.
