    Mwenezi Arts calls on Govt/NGOs’ for opportunities

    MWENEZI – Artists from Mewenezi District have called upon, Government, councils and Non-Governmental Organisations to create opportunities for budding artists by giving them slots to perform at public functions.
    They also called for a programme to scout for talent in the rural areas as most of it go to waste because it remains unnoticed. Mwenezi Arts Association president, Agrippa Tivarere said this when he addressed local artists at Rutenga clinic during a meeting called to find ways for developing arts in the district.
    Tivarere also known by his stage name, Chiteretere called for unity among the artists.
    "I appeal to NGO's, government ministries and councils to create opportunities for us by allowing us to perform at big events," he said.
    Tivarere is a talented actor, script writer, poet and dancer. He is also the director if Chirwirangwe arts production.
    Speaking during the same event Neverson Mutava who is the leader of Mwenezi Stars band and also the vice president of the association said unity was important for artists to make progress.
    "It is high time promoters appreciate that they should also decentralise their programmes to district levels as a way of catching these talented artists based in the rural areas. There is a lot of talent which is untapped here," said Mutava. entertainment news
