    Fireworks expected at provincial Copa Coca-Cola


    GUTU – Fireworks are expected as traditional provincial powerhouses meet at Gutu High tomorrow (Friday) to fight for the sole ticket to the U17 girls and U15 boys annual Copa Coca-Cola championship national finals in Bindura in two weeks' time.
    The Gutu High head, Mirirai Mutanda said it's all systems go and they expect a highly competitive event which features former national champions Dewure, Pamushana, Chidyamakono, perennial contenders like Gutu High, Chibi High and Mwenezi Government School
    "We are not only prepared to host the competition but to win as well, and this year Gutu High is going to shine as our boys and girls are bubbling with confidence, they are not easy pushovers," said Mutanda.
    Chidyamakono from Chivi are the national defending champions for the girls category while Rujeko from Glendale in Mashonaland Central are the defending champions for boys.
    In an interview with The Mirror reporter, National Association for Secondary School Heads (NASH) provincial head, Tranos Mbwirire said that the preparations for the prestigious provincial competitions are in motion.
    Last year the provincial competitions were held at Dewure High who had won the then U16 boys trophy in 2015. They went on to represent the province together with Pamushana girls.
    The tournament will see seven district teams (U15 boys and U 17 girls) battling to win a sole ticket to represent the province in the national finals in Bindura at Chipindura and Herman Germaine Schools in Mashonaland Central between July 21 and 22.
    The following teams will battle it out at the annual meet, Hlangani represents Chiredzi district, Pamushana and Silveira will represent Bikita District, Dewure represents Gutu North, Chivi represents Chivi District, Gutu high represents Gutu South, Nyabata represents Masvingo District and Mwenezi Government will stand for Mwenezi District.
