MASVINGO – The National Aids Council (NAC) Masvingo will hold an HIV musical gala on June 17, 2017 at Mucheke stadium from 8am to 5pm as part of the organisation's initiative to disseminate HIV related information through music.
The event will feature musicians from various music genres in the likes of Andy Muridzo, Blessing Shumba and Agatha Murudzwa who were engaged to support the dissemination of HIV information to youths and the general public.
NAC Monitoring and Evaluations Officer Munorwei Munyikwa confirmed the event and said the roping in of musicians would assist in capturing the attention of many people since music appears to be inspirational to listeners of the different genres.
"We are expecting nothing short of fireworks on Saturday with the main thrust being to spread as much information as we can to curb the spread of HIV and possibly facilitate the achievement of the much desired HIV free generation," said Munyikwa.
NAC's mandate is to provide measures to combat the spread of HIV and management, coordination and implementation of programmes that reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS.
Munyikwa added that entry will be free and a variety of health services will be provided comprising treatment literacy, dental, diabetes, cancer awareness and screening services and many more.
