BUHERA – A Murambinda Magistrate Dennis Mangosi last week sentenced a prominent Buhera tsikamutanda Kennedy Tawanda Munhuru (30) to a 9 year imprisonment after stealing a beast.
Munhuru appeared before magistrate Mangosi facing a charge of stocktheft. It is the state case that on 17 May 2017 during the night Munhuru went to Paul Tazviwana`s homestead in Tazviwana village and stole a black ox and went away unnoticed. Munhuru drove the beast to his in-laws` homestead where he told them that it was given to him as a gift after a cleansing ceremony. Munhuru then sold the beast to Munyaradzi Mandudzi the following day. Munhuru was arrested after a tip-off was made to police leading to the recovery of the beast.
Mangosi convicted Munhuru and sentenced him to an effective 9 year jail term.
