MOLLEN CHAMISA

MASVINGO – The wait for radio stations for the Midlands and Masvingo provinces is over as AB Communications' radio projects are starting 24 hour live broadcasts this week.
Midlands' 98.4 will start live broadcasts on Thursday and Masvingo's Hevoi FM (100.2 FM) on Friday 5am this week.
The new stations will be of immense benefits to local musicians as AB will honour Government call for 75% local content.
AB Communications Chief Executive Officer, Susan Makore confirmed the development in an interview with The Mirror and said delays in launching the stations which were given licences in March 2015 were due to equipment procurement procedures. The company imported equipment from America and software from Italy. The official launch of the radio stations will be in June this year.
"We are happy to announce that the two stations will start full spectrum broadcasts at the end of this week. The delays on full spectrum broadcasts were due to issues beyond our control. Equipment was imported from different parts of the world particularly the USA and Italy," said Makore.
She added that trainings have already been held for staff and final touches were being put in place before finally going on 24 hour live broadcasting.
The opening of the two stations consolidates AB Communications' market share in the media sector.
The company also owns one of the two national free-to-air commercial radio stations ZiFM Stereo, Mighty Movies which is a production house, mobile advertising company TruckAds, music production house Oskid Productions and music events promotions 6 Finger Records.
