MASVINGO - Zanu PF elections to choose a substantive provincial chairperson for Masvingo will go ahead as planned this Saturday, acting chairman Joram Gumbo has confirmed.
One of the two contestants Retired Colonel Masanganise who recently vowed not to participate in the elections could not say whether or not he still stands by that position.
"I am coming down to Masvingo on Friday to conduct the elections as ordered by President Mugabe. Everything is in place. I will be given names of the seven district presiding officers by the Politburo.
"None will come from outside the province to conduct the elections," said Gumbo.
The rerun pits Masanganise who is believed to be aligned to G40 faction and former chairman Ezra Chadzamira aligned to Lacoste and is sympathetic to Vice President Mnangagwa.
An earlier election held in February was abandoned by the Politburo after some districts failed to vote because of floods. Chadzamira had then led those elections which were 64% complete by 12 400 to Masanganise's 4 800.
