MWENEZI – The new MP for Mwenezi East Joosbi Omar is ready to open a development office at Rutenga Township by end of next week after investing US$25 000 into the project.
He told The Mirror in an interview that the development office was meant to spearhead development in the constituency.
Omar who is also a prominent businessman in Masvingo said he had already secured a five roomed house from National Railways of Zimbabwe in Rutenga which he is currently renovating.
He said he has bought all the materials required for the office including computers, desks and pledged three vehicles, a Toyota land cruiser and two Ford Rangers that will be used by the development office.
"This is part of the fulfilment of the promises which I made to the electorate. The Mwenezi East Development Centre offices will be open to everyone in this constituency and the primary aim is to spearhead development.
"The development will come in stages and under the first phase l will focus on developing schools, resuscitating abandoned dams and servicing impassable roads that is grading and building bridges where possible," said Omar.
Many people in Mwenezi have applauded the move Omar has taken and pledged to work with him.
"This is the kind of leadership that we were waiting for all these past years. The moment new projects are rolled out, there will be employment creation and that will come to the rescue of the unemployed people from this area.
"We have been lagging behind in terms of development and now that we have a helper in Omar, we hope in a few months people will see a better Mwenezi East," said Trust Jachi a local clothing vendor at Rutenga.news
