ZVISHAVANE - The parents of a 21 year-old gold panner who was murdered in raging gang wars in the district have demanded 40 herd of cattle in order for them to bury their son.
Brian Bushe was murdered by a five-man gang of illegal gold miners at Sabi Gold Mine a fortnight ago.
He was murdered at South Devon Dam allegedly by Bothwell Moyo (30), Omega Ziwa (20), Godknows Sibanda (22), Munashe Mtetwa (22) and Alpha Shava (21) all from Sikandiwa Village, Mazvihwa.
They attacked him with machetes and caused him to drown in a slime dam while throwing dangerous explosives at him.
Chief Mazvihwa confirmed to The Mirror that Bushe's family was refusing to bury their son demanding 40 cattle from the murderers' families. He said after the postmortem the body was brought to the village but the Bushe took it to the murderers' homestead in Sikandiwe.
Bushe's mother Florence Majambire pleaded with relatives to give her son a decent burial after three days went by with the body dumped at the accused's place.
Seven cattle were eventually paid but Bushe family spokesperson councilor Jacob Mvuto said what shocked them is that the body never showed signs of decomposition after three days out of the mortuary.
The body was finally buried as negotiations for payment of more cattle went on.
