ZVISHAVANE - Struggling Chapungu Football Club head coach Tendai Chikuni got a sigh of relief by attaining a point at Maglas when his club clashed with his former paymaster Shabani Football Club last Sunday.
Chikuni proclaimed the whole week that he would never lose at Maglas and was delighted to get his first away point following a series of defeats. The army side now has four points and is the only Premier Soccer League team that hasn't tasted victory as the league reaches the 9th week.
The draw with Shabani FC was not only Chapungu's first away point but it is the first time they have kept a clean sheet having conceded goals in all their matches.
"We are not going to be relegated, for us it's a welcome result and I told my guys that we cannot lose to a team I have coached before hence am happy we played well although we failed to collect all three points,"said Chikuni.
The home team did everything in the book to get a goal but it wasn't to be as they found the airmen defence resolute. Shabani FC could have taken the lead in the 3rd minute when Farai Mupasiri shot a ferocious free kick that hit the woodwork.
On fire Mupasiri shook his head in disbelief two minutes later after his rising freekick was dexterously tipped over the bar for a corner by an alert Chapungu goalie Talbot Shumba.
The Miners missed a glut of scoring chances and as for the visitors they were content on sitting back trying to catch the homeside on counter attacks hence managing to secure an away goalless draw.
