ZAKA – An animal health officer based at Zaka Veterinary Office in Nyakunhuhwa area, Denis Musona is believed to be on the run after an internal audit revealed that $4000 was missing.
Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr Ernest Dzimwashe confirmed this to The Mirror although he said the accounts department is best placed to provide the exact missing amount.
"People can steal money and Musona disappeared as soon as an audit was carried out on levies paid by farmers in the area. We have since reported the matter to Police and they have issued a warrant of arrest against him.
"For correct figures the best people to talk to are those in the accounts department," Dr Dzimwashe.
Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed but said the amount they have is $2 162 missing.
Musona was a veterinary officer based at Kwawageza in Ward 2 of Nyakunhuhwa area in Zaka and among his duties was to collect levies from communal farmers and dipping fees.
Sources alleged that Musona had been using the veterinary equipment to generate cash which he converted to his own use instead of depositing it in the veterinary office bank account.crime news
