GWERU – Alistair Mukosera, a prominent Gweru car dealer who died in a car crash at around midnight on Monday is suspected to have hit a pothole before he lost control of his Mercedes Benz and crashed.
The 30-year-old car dealer who was also into selling property hit a pothole along Shurugwi-Gweru Road which has become one of the worst roads in terms of potholes in Gweru. The accident happened as Alistair came from a party in Gweru and was about to reach Claybank Clinic.
Mukosora's father Maxwell Mukosera confirmed his son's death to The Mirror and said according to tyre marks on the road, his son hit a bad pothole before he lost control of the car. Alistair died two hours after arrival at Gweru General Hospital.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said that she had not rerceived such report when asked for a comment.
"He was coming from Shurugwi at around midnight and from the look of things he hit a pothole and crushed. Of course we are not experts and my son was alone and could not live to say what happened but we are convinced he hit a pothole,"said Mukosera
The deceased only got help 40 minutes after the accident when friends from the same party who were driviing behind him saw his badly damaged car.
"I think the other problem was that he did not receive immediate help because the way in which the car crashed seemed like it was just parked. Some of his friends who followed after him are the ones who helped him.
"This is a huge loss to the family because Alistair was a hard working man and was the only boy in a family of four," said the father.
Alistair left behind his wife Kudzai Madzimure.
