• Appeals for sponsorship after maiden invitation to Hifa
MASVINGO – Lisa Sibanda's star continue to rise!
Sibanda, a form two pupil at Mazambara High School in Zimuto left guests at the recent launch of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) in Masvingo spell bound with her award winning poems.
In addition to her traditional poems that won her national accolades including coming fourth at the Starbrite National Competitions, Lisa recited a poem with the theme of the launch and she kept guests on the edge of their chairs as she went through the stanzas.
The confident poet with a piercing voice was invited to the function by The Mirror which is the ZNCC media partner in Masvingo.
The pint-sized poet left the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mike Bimha who was the guest of honour so impressed that he gave her cash in appreciation of the performance.
"I am giving this prize money because of your good performance, you are a talented young girl but I don't want people in here to know how much I have given you lest they follow and ask you to share it," said Bimha.
Meanwhile Lisa whose secondary education is now being sponsored by Matsikidze Foundation International has got her maiden invitation to participate at the Harare International Arts Festival (HIFA) to be held in the capital from May 6, 2017.
She is appealing for funding from well-wishers to enable her to travel to Harare and make an impression at this renowned international event.
Her major sponsors in the last two years have been the magnanimous Masvingo Urban MP Daniel Shumba and his fellow Zanu PF MP who also represents Lisa's Constituency, Davis Marapira.
