CHAKA – An unknown number of passengers are feared dead after a horrific accident happened when a cross border bus on its way to South Africa collided head-on with a haulage truck near Chaka Business Center some 75 km from Masvingo along Harare- Masvingo Road on Wednesday night.
Information was still sketch at the time of going to Press but eyewitnesses who called The Mirror said both vehicles immediately caught fire and it was not clear how many passengers were in the bus.
Gutu businessman Fredrick Machinya who got to the scene at the time that the accident happened said the fire was so ferocious on the bus that no one could get near. He said a fire-fighter had run out of water by the time he left.
"No one knows how many people were on the bus and how many escaped. The accident happened at a bridge between Chaka Business Centre and Fairfields," said Machinya.
The bus was identified as Proliner and the haulage truck was ferrying tyres.
