ZVISHAVANE – The year 2017 continues to be a premiership galore for the Zvishavane community as Platinum Queens Netball Team qualified for the country's super league in a 16-team playoff tourney played at Stoddard Hall, Mbare in Harare last weekend.
Platinum Queens' promotion will see competitive netball coming to the small mining town.
The club that is sponsored by FC Platinum won all its qualifying matches in a tournament played by clubs from all the ten provinces across the country.
FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said they were overwhelmed by the ladies performance and playing in the top flight league has always been their dream.
"We are thrilled and excited by what the girls did. It is our thrust as FC Platinum to give back to the community by also empowering the girl child," she said.
Chizondo said they are already preparing ahead of the season and want to clinch the title as debutants.
"Our target is to clinch the title. There is nothing that can stop us as long as we remain focused," she said.
The Queens join two other Midlands province teams ConGold and Aaron Chinhara's Glow Petroleum Queens who are already playing in the super league.sport news
