SHURUGWI – Tongogara Rural District council has an ambitious five-year strategic plan initiated in 2015 and the Chief Executive Officer Brian Rufasha is confident that goals set will be met in the provided time frames.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Rufasha spelt out 12 major projects for the 2017 financial year and these include infrastructural development and social services.
In the area of infrastructural development, Tongogara RDC must in 2017 identify and build a primary school and a clinic. It is required to develop 100 stands in some of its big business centers and looks forward to constructing a standard dumpsite at Chachacha.
Rufasha said that in the social area, the RDC must identify 50 children from poor families and pay fees for them. The CEO said he was confident that this would be done this year and he added that the cumulative number of students whose fees should have been paid since the beginning of the strategic plan is 250 pupils.
"The local authority is expected to work on infrastructural development where we must build a primary school and a clinic. We are also planning to develop 100 residential stands at three of our Business Centers and by the end of this year beneficiaries should be able to build their homes," said Rufasha
He said that the local authority submitted a budget of $1.9 million and because of the hardworking team the budget is expected to perform above 60%.
"The 2017 budget is 1,9 million and we expect to perform above 60% because we have a very dedicated team," said Rufasha.
