• Dark horse Dr Killer Zivhu chickens out

NKULUMANI MLAMBO

MASVINGO – War veteran and Retired Colonel Mutero Masanganise and former chairman, Ezra Chadzamira are clashing today (February 23 2017) for the position of party provincial chairman in what is an epic battle by two Zanu PF factions for control of Masvingo.
Analysts said the elections are a succession matrix and the two known Zanu PF factions, Lacoste and G40 are throwing in everything because whoever wins is making a firm statement on succeeding of President Mugabe.
The elections follow the dissolution of the entire provincial executive after a large number of posts became vacant. Chadzamira is widely believed to belong to Lacoste which is said to be loyal to Vice President Mnangagwa. Masanganise's allegiance is not clear although it is understood that some of those backing him are Jappy Jaboon, Daniel Shumba and Walter Mzembi who are believed to be loyal to G40 whose to G40 whose kingpin is said to be First Lady Grace Mugabe.
Sources said Masanganise was likely to land the position. Another contender for the post Killer Zivhu chickened out of the elections and the reasons are not clear. The outgoing acting chairman Amasa Nhenjani is not standing allegedly because he was advised by Mzembi to clear the way for Masanganise.
The candidates were mum when The Mirror tried to get their comments this week.
