BUHERA - Titus Mabvuregudo (23) of Mavhura Village, Headman Mudinzwa under Chief Nyashanu has been arrested for allegedly crashing his wife's head and killing her instantly for taking anti-retroviral drugs behind his back.
Mabvuregudo was arrested last week on January 10 under CR24/01/17 for contravening Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 for allegedly killing his wife, Rejoice Balewa after a heated argument over the issue of anti-retroviral drugs that she was taking without his knowledge accusing her of infecting him with HIV.
"Accused had a heated argument with now deceased before leaving their homestead as witnessed by accused's mother Netsai Rungarara with accused blaming the now deceased of infecting him with HIV," reads part of the charge sheet.
Mabvuregudo allegedly hid the body of the deceased in a shallow grave.
The body was discovered four days after the offence in a decomposed state.
The accused is pleading guilty and led the Police to the crime scene where the stone used to crash the deceased's head was found.
It is also said Mabvuregudo had told his wife to remain behind tilling in the farm as he was going to look for a job but she insisted on accompanying him and that is when he killed her along the way.
Blood stained clothes of the accused were also found by the Police and they are being used as exhibits.
When the crime was unearthed Mabvuregudo was already working as a herd-boy at a homestead in Mutasa Village under Chief Makumbe in Buhera.
