    Dr Chindanya appointed GZU Pro Vice Chancellor

    MASVINGO - Dr Andrew Chindanya has been appointed Great Zimbabwe University Pro-Vice Chancellor with effect from December 1, 2016.
    Dr Chindanya confirmed the appointment in an interview with The Mirror and expressed his gratitude to Professor Rungano Zvobgo the GZU Vice Chancellor for the faith he showed in him.
    "Naturally I feel excited at the prospects of supporting the Vice Chancellor's vision so that it becomes a reality. I also want to appreciate the faith of the VC in me.
    "He contributed a lot in training me in the area of leadership and I am looking forward to discharge my duties to the satisfaction of stakeholders. It is an opportunity to be seized with both hands and not to be wasted," said Dr Chindanya.
    He replaces Prof Herbert Chimhundu who was the Pro Vice Chancellor who left some three years ago.
    Dr Chindanya comes from Nemauku Village under Chief Ndanga in Zaka and went to Mugodhi and Hunduza Primary Schools in Gutu. He went to Zimuto and Speciss College for secondary education and enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe in 1980 for a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
    He is also a holds a Doctorate in Education Management, a Master of Education in Educational Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education and a Graduate Certificate in Education from the UZ.
    He was also a lecturer at Masvingo Teachers College and rose through the ranks to become acting principal before joining the then Masvingo State University in 2005 which later changed name to GZU.
    The 56 year old veteran educationist rose through the ranks at GZU to Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Education to Dean and acting Pro Vice-Chancellor after the resignation of Prof Chimhundu.
    Dr Chindanya won 2014 Megafest Leadership Award as head of Faculty of Education.
    He is married to LovenessChindanya and the couple is blessed with four children, one boy and three girls.
