CHIKOMBA - Chivhu Police station soccer team scooped first position in the Officer Commanding Police Chivhu District sports gala competitions that were held on Friday at Liebenberg grounds.
Chivhu District Head Quarters (DHQ) netball team came in first position.
Five Police stations which include Chivhu DHQ, Chivhu station, Beatrice, Featherstone and Masasa participated in the competitions. Chivhu DHQ netball team headed by their coach Elizabeth Koke won 16 – 1  against Masasa Police station, played against Featherstone and won 14- 5.
The team also played against Chivhu Police station and won 7- 1 and against Beatrice, it won 7-3. The netball teams played a round robin where each team played against all the competing teams.
Chivhu DHQ had all in all 44 goals and were on first position, Beatrice Police station which came second had 27 scores, Chivhu station came third with 18 goals, on fourth position was Masasa with 12 goals and lastly Featherstone had 17 goals. Featherstone came fifth after it got one draw and three loses whilst got one win and three loses.
In the soccer competition, Chivhu Police station took first position and in the final game it played against Sadza and scored 1-0.
They first played in two groups where in the first group Chivhu station played against Featherstone and scored 3-0, on the second game Chivhu DHQ drew with Chivhu Police station and Featherstone won 2-1 against DHQ.
In the second group, Masasa won 1-0 against Beatrice, Sadza won 1-0 against Masasa and again Sadza won 2-0 against Beatrice thereby dominating in the group and played in the finals with Chivhu Police station where it lost 1-0.
On second position after Chivhu Police station is Sadza Police Station,Masasa came third, Featherstone came fourth, Chivhu DHQ came fifth and Beatrice is on sixth position.
In the chess competions, Musavengana came first in the males' group whilst Memory Sengu of Chivhu DHQ came first in the ladies' group.
The winning team and the selected members will be representing the district in the Propol's Gala, provincial competitions that will be held on February 18, this year in Marondera and representatives will begin their camping on February 6.
Officer Commanding District Chief Superintendent Stephen Baleni congratulated winners, and said sports are crucial as they derive good stress management leading to promoting a health mind, enhance team building and also opens lines of communications with those that are far away.
