CHIRUMANZU – Royal members of the Chirumanzu chieftainship are angry against their current chief Gerald Mudzengi; and they made this clear to the incoming Chirumanzu District Administrator Tapson Chivanga when they met him last week.
Members of the two families Simba and Nherera which lay claim to the chieftanship met the new DA and complained that their chief was always in the courts because of alleged crimes that he would have committed.
They also accused him of getting drunk in public.
The DA promised to invite Chief Chirumanzu and the other family members for a meeting.
Efforts to get a comment from Chief Chirumanzi were fruitless.
They also bitterly complained that he appointed more than 21 new headmen and village heads who are not members of the Chirumanzu family and this they feared was ultimately going to dilute their chieftainship. They said he did this without involving other members of the family.
Chief Chirumanzu is from Nherera family.
The team added that they are not fighting chief Chirumanzu neither did they want him ousted.
"We have come to put forward our grievances against Chief Chirumanzu, he is appointing outsiders to traditional leadership and so far there are about 21 headmen and village heads he had appointed on the bases of their wealth. If he was to come here he would have come drunk and it's so unheard of for a Chief to continuously commit crimes and appear in court, he is putting our name "Mhazi" to shame," said some of the family members during the meeting.
