MASVINGO – Bishop Michael Bhasera has appointed Father Oscar Chagweda as the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Masvingo.
The appointment is one of the several announced in church masses around the diocese on Sunday.
Fr Chagweda replaces, Father Rudolf Nyandoro who has been elevated to become the new Bishop of Gokwe Diocese.
The primary role of the chancellor is to gather, arrange, and safeguard the Acts and the archives of the diocesan curia. That is, he is responsible for the orderly arrangement and accessibility of the records and files that keep the diocese running and are its recorded history.
Father Chagweda is a Lecturer at Bondolf Teachers' College.
He was ordained a priest on 15 July 2006 at St. Joseph Beitbridge.
He worked at the following places: St Mary, Mutero Mission, St Barbra, Mashava and was appointed the Bishop's secretary while he was assistant priest at St Don Bosco in Masvingo town.
He was sent for further studies to Rome in 2010.
He studied social communications and graduated with a Doctorate.
The other appointments and assignments announced last Sunday were that of Fr Maxwell Mabvuure who becomes the priest-in-charge at St Josephine BakhitaTongogara Mission, a newly mission which was established some few years ago, and a member of the Board of Consultors.
Fr Tawanda Chitumba has been appointed priest in Charge of St Francis Xavier Ngundu Mission, Fr Peter Mudhanganyi has been assigned to St Mary's Mutero Mission as Assistant Priest, Fr Philemon Matsveru has been assigned to St Patrick 's Gokomere Mission as Assistant Priest, Fr David Munhamo has been assigned to St Francis Xavier Ngundu Mission as Assistant Priest, Fr AlphonceMafusire has been assigned to Good Shepherd Parish Chiredzi as Assistant Priest, Fr CrispenWatadza has been assigned to St Josephine Bakhita Tongogara Mission as Assistant Priest.
The changes are with effect from March 6, 2017,'' read the notice from Bishop Bhasera.
