    220 litres of fuel stolen from Gutu Command Agric

    GUTU - Thomas Mutemwa (56) from  Zvavahera Village under Chief Munyaradzi has appeared before Magistrate Edwin Marecha facing charges of stealing diesel supplied to Zvavahera Irrigation Scheme under the Command Agriculture Programme.
    It is the State case led by Agatha Gabriel that on October 14, 2016 Mutemwa was given 40 coupons to buy 800 litres of diesel to use in the irrigation.
    On December 12, 2016 an audit team went to audit and they discovered that 220 litres of diesel were missing and it is alleged that Mutemwa took 11 coupons worth $257. Nothing was recovered and Mutemwa denied that he took the coupons.
    Mutemwa was remanded in custody to December 28, 2016. Meanwhile another man, Vengai Zingwera (31) of the same village under Chief Munyaradzi was sentenced to three months in prison last Thursday by Magistrate Edwin Marecha for theft after he stole 50kg of Ammonium Nitrate  allocated to Zvavahera Irrigation Scheme under the Command Agriculture programme. It is the State case that on November 30, 2016 Zingwera was given six bags of Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer.
    When the audit team came on December 12, 2016, one bag of fertiliser was missing and they discovered that it was sold by Zingwera at US$38.
