CHIREDZI - A newly formed dance group of four ladies from Chiredzi known as the White Angels is seeking for appreciation of their artistic work from the local people.
The group was formed six months ago by Alice Masimbe who is the group leader together with other three dancers namely Emily Magadaire, Empress Hliwayo and Artwell Dhlakawa.
Speaking to the Mirror in an interview, Magadaire who is the group manager said that the group was formed in order to make a living through natural talents and shun prostitution.
"We saw that other young ladies are engaging in prostitution to make money and we found it better to use our natural talents to earn a living," said Magadaire.
Magadaire said that they aim to grow big as a group as well as to be accepted by the society.
She said that as a new group, they face a number of challenges that include rejection by the people who tear their posters and label them as prostitutes.
"We face a number of challenges which include rejection by local people who tear our posters and label us as prostitutes and others even threaten us," said Magadaire.
Masimbe also emphasised the need for recognition of their work and said that they would like to get invited to all types of events to perform to increase their revenue.
She said that they perform at night clubs during the weekends but are sometimes hired to perform at weddings and other functions.
