CHIREDZI – Thieves who probably thought that they were having their time on Chiredzi Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga when they broke into and stole valuables from his car were not so luck when one of them was caught and is now serving 14 effective months in prison.
The incident happened two weeks ago.
John Majuru of Tshovani appeared before Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Constance Mutandwa last Thursday facing theft charges. The State led by Doubt Phiri said on November 25, 2016 between 8pm and 11pm Mhlanga parked his vehicle a BMW outside his in-laws` home in Tshovani.
Majuru and some accomplices who are still at large unlawfully gained entry into the vehicle and stole a cellphone, money, bank cards and identity particulars, a bunch of keys and a spare wheel and vanished into the darkness.
Mhlanga realised the offence when he was about to leave. Police launched investigations which led to the arrest of Majuru a habitual thief. Majuru was found in possession of some of the stolen property.
Magistrate Mutandwa convicted Majuru and sentenced him to 11 months imprisonment. Three months were added from his previous convictions making it 14 months. crime news
