    Former Chimombe High head in court for fraud

    GUTU – Mupawaenda Mawere (42) who was the head at Chimombe High School 1 under Chief Chimombe in Gutu has appeared at the local courts facing fraud charges involving US$833.
    Mawere who has since been transferred to Muroyi Secondary School in Zaka appeared before Magistrate Edwin Marecha last Friday.
    It is the State case that in December 2015 there were three batches of chicken at the school which were sold and US$133 was raised.
    Agriculture teacher, only identified as Safara gave Mawere the money to be deposited in the school account but Mawere allegedly put it to his own use. There are also allegations that Mawere could not account for US$323 that was send to the school through his mobile phone.
    It is also alleged that on August 1, 2015 to July 26 2016, Mawere was given US$50 265 to deposit into the school account but he only deposited US$49 888 and put $377 to personal use.
    An audit team brought in by the School Development Committee then discovered that $833 was missing. Mawere's case will continue on December 10. Agatha Gabriel prosecuted.
