    Chivhu AFM to open Vocational Training Centre in January

    CHIKOMBA - Chivhu Provincial Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM), one of the largest churches in the country will open a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) at the old Earnest Kadungure training centre, some 25km from Chivhu along Chivhu-Harare Road.
    The new centre is opening in January 2017 and the aim of the project is to improve the lives of young people through offering educational courses and to create employment.
    Courses on offer at the Centre include Motor Mechanics, Auto Electrics, Cosmetology, Business Management, Christian Ethics, Agriculture, Dress Making, Brick and Block laying, Carpentry and Joinery, Welding, Computers, Vehicle body Maintenance (Panel beating), Plumbing, Power Engineering (Electrical), hotel and catering.
    Chivhu province AFM Overseer Joshua Takawira Nzombe confirmed the developments in an interview with The Mirror.
    Nzombe said the training centre is a satellite of Nyahoni Training Centre which is located near Hokonya Business Centre along Chivhu –Murambinda Road.
    "We are opening the training centre in January next year and we have already started making enrolments and working on final touches. We will be operating as a satellite of Nyahoni Training Centre," he said.
    He said they were driven to open a training centre after realising that apart from preaching to souls, there is need to improve the livelihoods of young people.
    He added that their assembly mainly comprises of rural areas where children are not making it to higher institutions requirements and the opening of the training centre will pave way in pursuing various courses.
    Nzombe said apart from offering various courses, they will also create employment to those that are qualified in specific courses offered. He said anyone who is able to read and write can make an application. He said even those who attended secondary level, grades even or those with five 'O' levels can apply for as long as they are interested in doing courses that will be offered.
