CHAKA – Mengenyai Makwande (68) who is the mother of popular fast food outlet Chicken Slice director, Tawanda Mutyebere got reprieve at Mvuma Magistrates' Court when a land dispute case brought against her by a neighbor was referred back to the local headman.
Mbuya Mutyebere was recently dragged to court by Julieth Muchanyara who is claiming ownership of land that is near her homestead at Ndaruza Village Chaka in Chirumanzu.
The matter was referred back to the traditional chief who is Headman Chaka by the Magistrate.
The Mirror understands that Headman Chaka has summoned Muchanyara to appear before his court today (Thursday).
Mutyebere's mother confirmed the incident in an interview with The Mirror this week. She also confirmed that the family is now seeking damages from Muchanyara for the costs and pain she suffered.
Efforts to get a comment from Muchanyara were fruitless.
The Mirror understands that the case was also once brought before Chief Chirumanzu and at that court Muchanyara was fighting yet another villager Adriano Claudio over land.
Village head Ndaruza also confirmed the incident to The Mirror.
