CHIVI - A soldier stationed at 4 Infantry Brigade in Masvingo is battling for his life at a Harare Hospital after he was shot and injured by a man he found making love to his wife.
Reliable sources said Joseph Ushe of 4 Infantry Battalion in Masvingo was shot once in the chest by Wayne Matema whom he found making love to his wife Tariro Mpofu in the early hours of Friday morning.
Reliable sources said Matema is a businessman who is into selling tombstones and coffins in Masvingo and is nicknamed Makuva.
The incident happened at Utsinda Primary School under headman Madyangove in Chivi where Mpofu who is a student at Bondolfi Teachers' College is on attachment.
The school head, Raymond Shayachimwe refused to comment on the matter and referred all questions to Zedius Chitiga, the Provincial Education Director. Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula however, confirmed the incident but also declined to comment as the matter was already before the courts.
Sources said Ushe who is stationed at 4 Infantry Brigade arrived at the school unannounced and caught his wife pants down with Matema. The two got involved in a fierce fist fight and Matema who was allegedly undressed fell near his clothes that were lying on the side of the bed.
He pulled out a pistol from his pants and shot Ushe once in the abdomen.
However another source who spoke to The Mirror just before going to Press said that the two lovebirds were caught making love in Matema's car which was parked at a sign post next to the main gate to the school. The husband was allegedly suspecting his wife. After shooting Ushe, Matema allegedly took him to Chivi General Hospital in Chivi from where the later was transferred to a Harare hospital.
Matema is said to have handed himself to the Police immediately afterwards.
"We heard noises and proceeded to the house where we saw Ushe in a pool of blood on the floor, the fight begun when Matema and Ushe exchanged blows after Matema was caught with Mpofu," said an eye witness who refused to be named.
Ushe and Mpofu are married with two children and the eldest is in grade 5. Efforts to get a comment from Matema or Mpofu were fruitless as both their phones were off. The Mirror is informed that Ushe is making steady recovery at Parirenyatwa Hospital where he is admitted.local news
