    Parirenyatwa heads for Chiredzi World Diabetes Day

    CHIREDZI – The Minister of Health and Child Care David Parirenyatwa will in two weeks time be going to Chiredzi where he will be the guest of honour at this year`s national World Diabetes Day.
    The commemorations are taking place on November 14, 2016.
    Masvingo Provincial Medical Director Amadeous Shamhu confirmed the visit and said the Ministry will support the event but the main organisers will be Zimbabwe Diabetic Association (ZDA).
    He said there is need for a vigorous campaign to educate people about the dangers of diabetes and as a ministry they will be fully supporting efforts being undertaken by ZDA.
    "This year`s national commemorations of World Diabetic Day will be held in Chiredzi on November 14, 2016. The main organisers of the event are Zimbabwe Diabetic Association but as a Ministry we are fully supporting their activities and the event will be graced by our Minister.
    "There is need for unity and vigorous campaign that's meant to educate people about the dangers of diabetes and that's what we are doing as a Ministry together with various partners," said Shamhu.
    World Diabetes Day is commemorated globally on November 14 every year and is a day when millions of people around the world come together to raise awareness of diabetes. It's a global campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation and this year`s commemorations are held under the theme "Eyes on Diabetes" promoting screening of type 2 diabetes and screening for diabetes complications.
