    SYDNEY MUBAIWA

    MWENEZI –
Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and other ZPF leading members of the party had to stop a scheduled rally attended by hundreds of supporters at Rutenga on last weekend and shift it to his farm nearby after riot Police that allegedly came from Masvingo disrupted the gathering and ordered everyone to disperse.
Bhasikiti confirmed the incident and said the rally was cancelled despite the fact that it had a clearance letter from the Police. Rodney Chibaya alleged that one of the Police officers actually snatched the clearance letter from the Provincial Organising Secretary just as the rally was about to start.
Other ZPF leaders who had come to address the rally were Party National Organiser Dzikamai Mavhaire and Patrick Makova.
Sources said that Police insisted that the rally should be cancelled until National Electoral Reform Agenda (Nera) demonstrations that have engulfed the country are over.
Hundreds of ZPF supporters who had braved the searing heat in Rutenga were disappointed when the riot Police dispersed them.
After the rally had been blocked, the supporters quietly arranged, went end held the rally at Bhasikiti's Moria Farm.    The rally was then addressed by Makova, Mavhaire and Bhasikiti.
"Our rally at Rutenga was disrupted by riot police who claimed to be from Masvingo. Shocked by the attendence Police snatched away the clearance letter from our organising secretary's hands and we were told to vacate the area and only hold such meetings when Nera demonstrations are over", said Bhasikiti.
