MOREBLESSING MATHE

GWANDA - Gwanda Municipal Council Town Treasurer Xolani Dube has been inducted as the new president of the Rotary Club of Gwanda.
Rotary  Club is an International service organisation whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
The clubs partake in a number of projects that include sinking of boreholes, erection of sanitation facilities, equipping schools with basic educational materials, promotion of self sustenance projects as well as assisting the less privileged.
Dube will serve an effective one year term which began in June 2016 up to July 2017.
His induction was held at a ceremony at Gwanda Hotel last Wednesday.
"I am happy that club members trusted me enough and gave me an opportunity to lead them. I promise that I shall promote the use of collective effort of all members to carry out tasks that live to our current theme, 'Rotary Serving Humanity'. I will live to the words of the founder of our club Paul Harris who said, individual effort may be turned to individual needs, but combined effort should be dedicated to the service of mankind," he said.
Gwanda Rotary Club has made the dream of electrifying and furnishing the town's old people's home a reality and this has contributed to significant change of living conditions for the inmates of that residence.
Dube added that, he is raring to go as he looks forward to carrying out more developmental projects that are bound to benefit the mining town.
"In light of the foregoing, we shall carry out simple but helpful projects for the betterment of the less privileged in our town and its surroundings," he said.
The membership of the club is by invitation by any existing member of the club.local news
