The schools were debating on a topic entitled: Environmental prosecution and not environmental education is the best way to deal with poor waste management practices in Zimbabwe.
The debate was held at Gwanda High School.
Gwanda High came first in the Non-affirmative side with 259 points whilst the defending champions, Mtshabezi came first in the Affirmative side with 255 points.
The two schools walked away with certificates as well as prize money of $150 each.

This was an annual debate where all districts participate so that the best team is chosen to represent the province at national level.
"This is an annual event where schools are engaged to debate on topical environmental issues.
"The Agency is trying to engage all sectors of the population in environmental awareness in general and waste management in particular.
"School pupils are one of the prime targets as they are the future leaders," read one of the posters in the room.
