    ZVISHAVANE –
The mining town of Zvishavane was plunged in a somber atmosphere after their sole Premiership side FC Platinum lost 2-1 to Harare City at Rufaro Stadium last Saturday resulting in the team slumping to second position two points behind new log leaders Caps United who thumped Border Strikers 1-3 on Sunday.
The community at large is failing to contain the fact that their team is far from bringing the championship home after the loss.
The Zvishavane based side has been struggling with form recently jeopardising their hopes of bringing the championship trophy to Zvishavane for the first time in the history of Zimbabwean football.
Dropping the valuable points at the hands of Harare City left the title race open to the two forgotten giants who are hoping to end their trophy droughts this time around.
Some of the Pure Platinum Play supporters have lost hope and are quick to pin their support to their rivals Shabanie Mine FC who are playing well in Central Region Division One league and eying a return to the PSL as they top the log with 54 points, one ahead of second placed Blanket Mine FC.
"FC Platinum is disappointing these days; I don't know what is going wrong with the team. With the way we are playing I see Caps taking the league. I am hurt, now at least Shabanie is doing fine we can have something to smile about," said a disgruntled fun.
FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza said the team has regrouped and gave hope that the trophy will land in Zvishavane.
"It's football you either win or lose but we have put the past behind and the boys will redeem their pride and win," said Mapeza.sport news
