SHURUGWI – Chief Banga of Shurugwi has evicted a villager whom he accuses of not greeting him whenever they meet.
Jasinto Chihlangu has been given four months' notice to vacate Mashingaidze Village for not showing his allegiance to the chief by greeting him. Chihlangu is also accused of not holding conversations with the chief.
An eviction order in the hands of The Mirror which is dated October 14, 2016 gives Chihlangu four months from October 15 2016 to January 17 2017 to move out of his area.
Chief Banga whose name is Lameck Toindepi confirmed the developments and warned the reporter not to defend Chihlangu.
Banga said he has the right and powers to remove anyone who does not show respect for him from his area.
"If a child does not respect his or her father the father has no option but to chase him away so that he can go and look for a father of his choice.
"Let me tell you that I have not chased him away from Zimbabwe. I have merely ordered him to move away from my area and go to a place where he can respect a chief," said Banga.
Documents in the hands of The Mirror show that Chihlangu was summoned to the chief's court in 2009 for not greeting the chief.
The summons read, "Iwe unopomerwa mhosvayo kusamhorosa kana kutaudzana namambo kubva musi wavakutonga musi wa 19-08-09 pamusoro penyaya imwechete kuda unovasema kana kuvamhura. (You are being summoned to court to answer to a charge that you neither greet the chief nor talk to him and you were called again for the same issue on 19 August 2009)"
An eviction order which was stamped on October 14, 2016 addressed to the victim again says that 'Ndakakutonga padare rangu, ndikakupa mutongo ukawutambira. Mushure wakazoratidza kuti ini nedare rangu tave vanhu vakaipa, ndakazama kukutsiudza ukaramba zvakare.
Sezvo ini nevedare rangu tave vavengi vako naizvozvo ndawona zvakakodzera kuti uchibva hako mudunhu mangu, woona kune mambo kwaunganogara hako," said the summon.local news
