    NAC to hold HIV Music Gala in Chivhu

    The National Aids Council (NAC) will hold a district HIV/AIDS musical gala at Garwe Stadium in Chivhu on Saturday (September 17, 2016) in a bid to mobilize people from Chikomba in the fight against new infections.
    Prominent musicians like Matthias Mhere, Killer T, Andy Muridzo, Morestaff and local artists who include Big Lover, a student at Liebenberg High will perform at the Gala.
    Chikomba District Aids coordinator Tendai Mabamba confirmed the event and said it was kicking off at 9am.
    Mabamba said it was the first time such a gala was being held at a district level as the previous events were provincial.
    September 17 this year at Garwe stadium in order to gather the district populace in an effort to increase AIDS awareness, publicizing on prevention services offered in the district.
    Mabamba said the purpose of the gala is to gather people through music and offer free services like HIV testing, Cancer screening and give health education to people.
     He said although they are targeting all age groups, they emphasis is on the youth who are affected by new infections and rarely go for testing.
    "Although we are targeting all age groups, our main target is the youth who are mainly affected by new infections and rarely go for testing. We use music to gather people especially youths who are interested in young artists," said Mabamba.
