    Maud Muzenda to grace Mzee Golf Championships

    - Maud Muzenda will grace the second edition of the Simon Vengesai Muzenda Golf Championship to be held at Masvingo golf club on September 24 and 25, an event that was confirmed by the late hero's son Captain Vitalis Vengesai Muzenda, The Mirror can reveal.
    "My mother will be present during the tournament to celebrate the life of the late national hero, Dr Simon Muzenda although this time there will be no dinner after the championship," said Cpt Muzenda
    The championship is held every year to celebrate the life of the late national hero Dr Muzenda who hailed from Gutu, Masvingo province.
    He died on September 20, 2003
    Last year the championship which is on the Zimbabwe Golf Association calendar attracted 66 players from across the country.
    "I think this year's tournament will be much bigger and better and after learning from last year's mistakes there will be more players and better prizes.
    "In future we intend to register the Simon Muzenda Foundation so that the running of the championship becomes independent and easier," added Cpt Muzenda.
    The Championship Division for medals will see the 0 to 6 handicap playing 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday, the A Division for the 7 to 12 handicap playing 36 holes for medals on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
    For Stableford B Division, 13 to 18 handicap will be playing 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday while the C Division with 19 to 24 handicap stableford playing 18 holes on both days. 
    "Meanwhile, 10 kits that were promised to Don Bosco Primary School as part of junior policy development last year will be officially handed over by the late hero's widow, Maud Muzenda during the tournament," said Cpt Muzenda.
