    – Chiredzi Town secretary, Charles Muchatukwa has said that plans are afoot to remove all vendors from the Central Business District following complaints from the Business Community that the former are disturbing operations and damaging facilities and properties in the city centre.
The removal of the vendors has been one of the key demands of the business community during this year's just started 2017 budget consultations.
"We have received complaints from the business community that vendors are diverting customers to their products and they are also damaging private property around the central business district yet they do not help with the upkeep of the property," said Muchatukwa.
He said the rise in informal traders has resulted in the reduction and destruction of ratepayers.
He said by destroying the actual ratepayers, the vendors were crippling the development of the town as the local authority's revenue would be reduced.
Speaking at a budget consultation meeting for the business community at Nesbitt Arms Hotel this Tuesday, the majority of businessmen raised the issue as a problem they wish to be resolved in the 2017 budget.
