    I did not rape the girl – Chivhu taxi driver pleads

    - A Chivhu taxi driver William Matimba (45) has pleaded not guilty to raping his employer's 13-year-old daughter.
    Matimba who is employed as a taxi driver by his friend appeared before Chivhu Regional Magistrate Solomon Jenya on Thursday.
    The matter was postponed to August 18 for trial. Matimba told the court that he never had sexual intercourse with the complainant.
    Matimba allegedly raped the juvenile on three different occasions. On the first count, the complainant met Matimba on her way home and she entered into the accused's vehicle so that he could take her home. The accused person then drove towards Chivhu cemetery and parked at the side of the road. Matimba allegedly raped the girl from the back seat.
    On the second count, the accused again picked the girl and drove along Marondamashanu Road where he parked at the side of the road and allegedly raped the girl.
    In November, he picked the girl and allegedly raped her along Nyazvidzi road.The juvenile's affair with Matimba was discovered this year after the accused send airtime on the complainant's mobile.
    The complainant was asked by her parents and she disclosed that the accused person (Matimba) had sexual intercourse with her.
    The complainant was doing form one at a boarding school in Gutu and has since stopped going to school.
    Another man Prince Shonhiwa (24) who resides Chivhu has also been arrested for raping the same juvenile.
    It is the State case that sometime in November 2014, Shonhiwa proposed love to the complainant and she accepted. Sometime last year in October, the two met at Goodhope primary school while the complainant was coming from school and the accused asked her to go to a bush near the primary school and she complied.
    It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
    On the second count, in November last year, the accused met the complainant at Grain Marketing Board and drove her towards Chivhu town cemetery road where he asked the complainant to have sexual intercourse with her and she accepted. It is alleged that the accused had sexual intercourse with the complainant whilst she was lying on the vehicle's seat.
    The matter came to light when the complainant's mother discovered that she was pregnant and she interviewed her. She told her mother that she had had sexual intercourse with the accused without her consent on the first occasion but on the second encounter she consented.
