    - Female officers in the army held their own at the recently held celebrations at Mucheke stadium where they led their male counterparts in all detachments during drills which thrilled the crowd.

"We feel empowered as women to be leading the defence forces on such a very important occasion, women should seize every opportunity to lead at every level," said Mapako.
Three Masvingo High School female students, Blessed Sengai, Mercy Machokoto and Rumbidzai Chimusakasa also participated in the male dominated Junior Cadets drills.
"We are empowering women to take centre stage, women have equal rights and responsibilities as men thus letting them lead the detachments and retreat," said Lieutenant Bigboy Mazvivofa who is the Public Relations Officer for 4 Infantry Brigade.
