    - Some seven Zinwa employees based in Chivhu have been suspended for allegedly making illegal water connections to households in the town.
The seven who are  Muvaki Marufu, Dominic Chiwalo, Lewis Mukwashi, Fibion Ngundu, Clever muchanyu, Sibongile Negandi and Lloyd Nyuke will be on suspension pending disciplinary hearing.
The suspensions have been confirmed by the Zinwa Corporate Communications and Marketing manager Marjorie Munyonga through a written statement to The Mirror.
The allegations against the seven arose on May 24 2016 when a revenue collection team from Gweru discovered that there were a number of households in Chivhu that were illegally connected to the ZINWA water supply system.
This prompted management to send a loss control team whose investigations unearthed several irregularities in the manner in which several connections were done.
It was realised that there were consumers connected to the authority's water system when they neither appeared on the official clientele database nor received water bills thus prejudicing the Authority of potential revenue.
Investigations carried out on the matter revealed that most of the illegally connected clients had allegedly paid water connection fees to the ZINWA employees on the understanding that they would remit the money to the authority.
ZINWA appealed to clients, existing and potential to ensure that their dealings with Authority employees are above board and to get receipts whenever they make payments.
