Dewure, Pamushana through to Copa Coca-Cola Finals

    – Although the 2015 national defending champions Dewure High defeated Pamushana High 3-1 in penalties after a nil all draw on an eventful final, the underdogs will share the same boat to National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH) Copa Cola-Cola U16 boys and U17 girls football tournament slated for Gwanda from July 22-24.
Pamushana High failed to humiliate the hosting team, Dewure in the first half as their exuberant gunman Tendai Matindife blasted a rebound off target.
With the support from its ecstatic roaring supporters, Dewure young stars weaved brilliant passes to thwart Pamushana's unwavering defence but failed to get a clean shot to put the ball in the back of the net.
In the 17th minute, McClain Muyambo was clattered in the box and Pamushana was rewarded with a penalty.
Conversely, Muyambo broke the hearts of his supporters as he failed to utilise the penalty to a victory cruise after he widely missed the sticks.
In the second half, the trio Dewure players Prince 'Neymar' Mulanzi former Aces Youth Soccer Academy player, Edmond Ruwo and Tinashe Alois Bunjira became the centre of attention with their statically relevant controls and skills that made their team dictate the pace and tone of the game.
In penalty shoot outs, Dewure goalkeeper Brendon Gomo was the man of the moment when he saved two penalties securing their win against stubborn Pamushana High.
Bernard Matenga, Pamushana coach who suffered a miserable defeat noted that despite being defeated due to his use of the same technique with that of Dewure, it is either Pamushana or Dewure to retain the trophy.
"As you have seen, we were defeated in the notion that we used same system of play and they have good policy just like us. But I promise you it's either Pamushana or Dewure to retain the trophy to Masvingo Province," confidently said Matenga.
Dewure Headmaster Samuel Mahwehwe also said:
"Once a champion, will always be a champion. I was impressed with the performance of the boys in this prestigious tournament and i am glad they won. We are going to Gwanda not just to add numbers but to defend the cup and bring it back home."
He also thanked the Copa Coca Cola for its sponsorship which blatantly changed the face of the school through the building of restrooms and durawall.
In semi finals, Dewure edged Gutu High with a penalty in the second half and Pamushana also dispatched Masvingo Day 3-1 in penalty shoot out to stride in finals.
