    Masvingo Congregation lifts 2016 Nyaningwe RCZ Varume Bhora

    - The 2016 edition of the Nyaningwe RCZ Varume Bhora ended in style when the co-hosts, Masvingo Congregation lifted the trophy for the first time in the history of the competitions after beating Mbizo Congregation from Kwekwe 6-4 on penalties.
     It was a thrilling 40 minutes as the teams took turns to test each other but there was no winner and the game had to go to penalties and for their efforts Masvingo walked away with $3000, a trophy and jerseys. Mbizo bagged $1500 for being runners up while Rhodene and Rujeko each got $600 for finishing third as there were no play offs.
    Masvingo goalkeeper Takunda 'TK' Chipezeze emerged the hero of the day as he stopped two spot kicks to power his team to victory amid wild applause from the fans who braved the chilly weather to witness evangelism through sport which was played under the theme "Ngariende Vhangeri".
    To get to the finals Mbizo beat newcomers Rhodene by a solitary goal from the top goal scorer of the tournament Joseph Mashayamombe, Masvingo also won by the same score-line against Seke a penalty kick which was converted by Billiat Muchenje.
    Wilson Chinosengwa the Masvingo gaffer was naturally delighted by his team's performance although they threw away a lot of chances in the first half.
     "It was a tough game but we tried our tactics and won the game. I am happy about the win even though the strikers wasted a lot of opportunities," said Chinosengwa.
    The games started on Saturday with 24 teams taking part and the final on Sunday which was graced by the Mayor Hubert Fidze, Setfree and Patricia Mapuvire representing the sponsors and human resource and administration manager of Delatfin Company Amos Vhori who was standing in for the guest of honour Dr Felix Munyaradzi who could not make it due to other commitments. The games are an initiative of the Mapuvire family the owners of Nyaningwe Supermarkets which started in 2011.
    Vhori offered one night at Jameson Hotel in Harare to the winning coach with all expenses paid.
     "I am also proud to announce that coach of the winning team will have a night in Jameson Hotel in Harare with his wife. All the costs will be paid by the Delatfin," said Vhori.
    Rev Julius Zibako was voted the best Reverend player and walked away $100 richer and a  gold medal, coach of the tournament was Chinosengwa of Masvingo who received $100, the most disciplined team was Senga who got $100 as well while the best over 40 years player was Gunners Muradzikwa of Mbizo who was given $100.
    Golden Boot with a prize money of $100 and a trophy went to Mashayamombe of Mbizo, Chipezeze of Masvingo who saved two penalties in the finals received $100 for being the goalkeeper of the tournament while Tawanda Muvengwa from the same team was the player of the tournament and got $100 and a trophy.sport news
