    - Tillys Inn, a large fast food outlet that opened in Chivhu barely 12 months ago has shut down.
Efforts to get a comment from Chief Musarurwa, a Senator believed to be the major shareholder of the project were fruitless.
However, a visit to the place which has become one of the major features of Chivhu situated opposite Chivhu Police Station near Gutu turn off showed that there was virtually no business at the place. A single guard from Peace Security Company patrolled the place.
The Mirror established that there are at least 20 employees who have lost their jobs.
Some sources said that the closure of Tillys was due to a loan with the Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe (CBZ) that had become bad.
Senator Chief Musarurwa, who is one of the directors of the food outlet, could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered.
The branch manager for CBZ Chivhu, Prosper Muzamhindo said he was not authorised to comment.
Thembelihle Gumbo, one of the managerial employees said Tillys had not closed for good but there was just a small issue that the company was sorting out. He said the outlet would be back on stream soon.
"This closure is not a big deal, because the company will reopen soon after we have fixed a small problem. We will re-open soon, probably next week," said Gumbo.
However, employees who spoke on condition of anonymity said that there were no indications given them that they would be coming back to work soon. They also told The Mirror that their salaries were in arrears.
They also said that some of them had since taken their cases to the National Employment Council (NEC) for the food and hospitality industry.
"Some of us were promised a salary of US$325 per month but we have never been paid that in full. The company owes most of its former employees a lot of money. We have forwarded our grievances to NEC for settlement," said Phiri.
