CHIKOMBA -
Three Chivhu General Hospital employees are under investigation for allegedly using an ambulance to ferry beef from a beast that they slaughtered in a nearby communal area.
It is alleged that the three Tendai Chibuda, Tinashe Denhere and Joshua Ndengwa bought a beast on credit from a farmer under the guise that it was the hospital that was buying.
It is understood that they planned to repay the farmer after selling the meat.
The incident happened on April 2, 2016 at around 9am. The three used the ambulance to go and see the farmer and ferried the meat in that ambulance in the morning.
Chivhu General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Alice Kanyemba said she was not aware of the allegations when contacted for comment.
Dengaharinangoni Muchovhu the farmer who sold the beast did not deny the allegations. He however, said he did not want the matter published.
"I do not want the story to be published. Some issues have to be left as they are," said Muchovhu.
Ndengwa is said to have driven the ambulance while Chibuda and Denhere are employed as general workers at the hospital.
"I have been away from the hospital. I have not yet received such reports," said Dr Kanyemba.
The Mirror heard that the three went to Chigara plots to acquire the beast in the company of a Prison officer called Stephen Chibuda, a brother to the hospital employee.
Chibuda the prison officer confirmed the incident but said the ambulance was authorised by a senior officer at the hospital (name given).
The officer declined to comment.
The matter came to light when Muchovhu of Farm 17 Mobligen near Chigara plots came to the hospital demanding the money he thought the hospital owed him.
Efforts to get comments from Chibuda, Denhere and Ndengwa were futile.
