Caravan Park accident kills Econet employee

    – A horrific accident that saw a speeding BMW flying over the bridge into Mushagashe River near the Caravan Park in Masvingo at around 2am on Sunday has claimed the life of an Econet employee.
Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the accident and The Mirror understands that Obert Mukarakadzi (38) who was employed by Econet Wireless died on admission to Masvingo General Hospital.
It is understood that Mukarakadzi's silver BMW was being driven by Cedrick Chinyama (22) and there were two passengers aboard; Mukarakadzi and Paradzai Chikuni (18).
The car was travelling from the direction of Mutare and sources said the trio were coming from Gutu.
As they approached Mushagashe River Bridge near Caravan Park, the driver lost control of the car and it flew off the bridge hitting a tree branch that is about two metres above the ground before landing on the river bed just inches away from the water body.
The car made a 180 degrees turn and it looked in the direction where it was coming from when it finally landed.
Chinyama and Chikuni sustained some injuries and they are admitted at Masvingo General Hospital. local news
