    - Rayson Tsvangirai Rushwaya infamous for impregnating school girls, was this week denied bail on another unrelated charge of illegal possesing precious stones.
Resident Magistrate Gloria Takundwa in denying bail said possesion of such gems attracted a jail term of up to five years.
"It is not correct that it carries a penalty of a fine but actually a prison term and a fine equivalent to the value of the mineral," she said.
The long prison term was incentive enough for Rushwaya not to stand trial, ruled Takundwa. Rushwaya on Thursday was arrested at court and charged for kidnapping and detaining girls under 17 years when he came for another matter that he insulted a local journalist by a phone message.
Parents and guardians of girls he allegedly kidnapped together with some girl rights activists pounced on him at the courts before calling police to arrest the 26-year-oĺd.
Police were saying they could not locate him.
Rushwaya was thrown into cells but his world started crumbling when other police departments descended on him.
A search in his vehicle led to the discovery of diamonds for which he was denied bail on Monday. Prosecutor Nomathemba Sayi succesfully applied for the refusal of bail saying Rushwaya faced many other charges which made him a flight risk.
"Harare police want him for fraud. He was found with scanned signatures and date stamps of all Beitbridge customs officers  and he could be charged with fraud," said Sayi.
Patrick Tererai of Tererai Legal Practice representing Rushwaya unsuccesfully argued that bail was a constitutional right.
He also challenged the manner which his client was held saying he was cooperating with the police.
He said Rushwaya came to court on his own so he was not a flight risk.
Throughout this week Rushwaya, in leg irons, wobbled  from one court to another as his cases were divided between different magistrates.local news
