    15 teams in maiden qualification for Nyaningwe RCZ tournament


    - A record 15 teams have qualified for the first time in the finals of the annual Nyaningwe, Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) Varume Bhora tournament set for next week in Masvingo.
    "This year will see a total of 15 teams participating in the 24 team tournament for the first time ever and among them are Mpopoma, Zvishavane, Norton, Munyikwa, Senga and Dzoro congregations.
    Traditional participants who could not make it to the finals are Zimuto, Morgenester, Mkoba, Woodlands, Warren Park and Dzivarasekwa just to mention but a few," said tournament coordinator David
    The tournament which is sponsored by Nyaningwe Supermarkets to the tune of $15 000 will be held at Mucheke stadium on May 21 and 22 and the hosts are Seke and Masvingo congregations.
    Nyaningwe supermarkets are owned by the Mapuvire family from Chivi and this year's theme for the tournament is 'Ngariende Vhangeri'.
    There will be other teams from South Africa although the number has not been confirmed yet, Masomere told The Mirror. Majiri are the defending champions, they beat Rujeko in the finals.
    "Majiri, Masvingo and Norton are considered favourites as they have quite a number of former Premier League players and experienced coaches like Wilson Chinosengwa former Voctoria FC gaffer," said
    The winners will walk away with a trophy and $3000 cash, the runners up will get $1500 while the team that finishes third will pocket $900.
    There are also individual prices like the best reverend player, golden boot, best over 40 years player and overall best player.sport news
