    - The Midlands State University (MSU) sports director James Muvirimi Chivivi is appealing for $150 000 to enable University athletes to attend the Federation of African University and College Sports (FASU games) to be held in South Africa from June 26 –  July 2 2016.
Chivivi told The Mirror that his university received the letter of invitation to the games last week.
"I am excited about this development and the huge contingent of athletes that we are taking to the regional games shows that we are the University of choice as far as sports development is concerned.
"I would like to see MSU excel in these sports that is why I am appealing for funds to cater for 124 athletes and 16 officials' transport and welfare during our travel and stay in South Africa," said Chivivi.
The invitation comes after MSU's third victory in a role at the recent Zimbabwe University Sports Association (ZUSA games). MSU came first after hauling 35 gold medals, 32 silver medals and 26 bronze medals; followed by the University of Zimbabwe with 29 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.
The FASU games consist of all gold medalists from the ZUSA games and Chivivi is looking at about $150 000.
"We are set to depart on June 24 and return on June 3, 2016," said Chivivi.sport news
