    - A Mkwasine farmer who was arrested on allegations that he raped his daughter who was aged two has been cleared of the charges by the Chiredzi Regional Magistrate.
Timothy Chihlengwe of Mkwasine compound appeared before regional magistrate Judith Zuyu facing a case of rape. Prosecutor Moreblessing Rusere told the court that sometime last year Chihlengwe took the minor from her grandmother and went with her to his home where he spent a night with her and raped her once. He then allegedly threatened to kill her if she dared report what had happened.
Chihlengwe through his lawyer Ndava of Mangwana and Partners denied ever raping his daughter and said he was not the only one at home on the day.
Zuyu said in her ruling that the evidence given by the doctor and the minor's grandmother were contradictory. The grandmother said she noticed scars on the minor's private parts after three weeks and yet the doctor said the scars were fresh.
Zuyu concurred with Chihlengwe's defence outline that for sure the child was raped but it was not the father who raped the minor. The matter could have been framed following the unstable relationship between the mother of the child and the accused.
The court noted that the minor spent most of her time if not all with the maid who works in a tuckshop which is near beer-halls. This, concluded the court may also have something to do with the abuse. local news
